Efteling opens new ride Max & Moritz to the public tomorrow

The German fairytale theme park Efteling opens its new double roller coaster ride, Max & Moritz, to the public tomorrow

Max & Moritz has two tracks, on which train Max (blue) and train Moritz (green), ride in opposite directions, and meet each other a couple of times, while going round in sharp curves. This ride is new because the trains are electrically powered, so their speed will vary and gravity will not be a bother. Visitors can either join team Max or team Moritz, as each track has its own exciting experience with several surprises on the way.

The ride is designed for children aged between 4 and 10 years, with a minimum height of 1 metre, yet the whole family can also enjoy the ride, as it speeds through the alpine landscape. The roller coaster is based on a German poem by Wilhelm Busch, from 1865, named Max und Moritz, which talks about two mischievous school kids. Here, in Efteling, they live in a village with their mother Frau Schmetterling, who makes special cuckoo clocks. When Max and Moritz drive the villagers to despair with their tricks, their mother locks them up in her cuckoo clock workshop as a punishment, and they try to escape with self-built soap boxes and Efteling visitors escape with them.

Efteling?s CEO Fons Jurgens says: "After saying goodbye to the iconic Bobsleigh ride last year, young visitors to Efteling will be able to share their first roller coaster experience on Max and Moritz with the whole family from tomorrow. It is a very contemporary and based on the German poem about the rascals Max and Moritz. During the ride visitors will be able to find out more about Max and Moritz? various tricks."

The park has been redesigned in less than a year and will have a new catering establishment called Frau Boltes K?che at the entrance of Max & Moritz Square, which will serve French fries, snacks and chicken bites.
