Denmark looks ahead to 2021 and the return of travel

With new routes and attractions launching this year, Visit Denmark spotlights why now is an ideal time to give your clients a Danish escape to look forward to.

At ANTOR's 'Meet the Media' event, Visit Denmark has showcased a series of new offerings and attractions to draw back international tourism when restrictions permit.

Odense is set to welcome the Hans Christian Andersen museum this summer, celebrating the classic Danish author's fairytales by immersing guests in his life and work. Guests will watch the writer's former hometown come to life and insert themselves into his escapist stories.

The world's first LEGOLAND, the LEGOLAND Billund Resort, is unveiling a brand new land on May 25, 2021, inspired by the popular LEGO Movie, featuring a flying theatre attraction and a selection of rides for children and families.

Knuthenborg Safari Park hosts Europe's largest elephant facility, with former circus elephants rehoused in a 140,000 metre-squared savannah-like facility.

In celebration of 2021 as the year of cycling tourism, two new cycling routes will be launched, including the 52km Fjordmino route through forests, fields and traditional villages, and the 390km Ice Age route through ancient woodlands and Viking attractions that trace Danish history.

Copenhagen will host a selection of events throughout the year, from WorldPride to the EuroGames and the rescheduled Euro 2021 football tournament. A popular event for Brtis is the Copenhagen Beer Week, which last year hosted 60 different events across the city and, this year, will take to the streets throughout September.

The city will also go green with GoBoats (solar-powered boats through Copenhagen's harbours) and GreenKayaks, which allow guests to sail for free as they collect rubbish to clean the harbours and oceans. The harbours are, in fact, so clean that visitors can take a dip (weather-permitting).
