Cruising demand continues to rise as Wave period sails on

CLIAs new consumer sentiment survey reveals strong demand for cruise holidays, with 91% of previous cruisers intending to take a holiday at sea again.

Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) has unveiled the results from its new consumer sentiment survey of 4,500 domestic and international travellers.

For UK passengers, the survey revealed that 72% of travellers who have never cruised are open to cruising, a 1% increase on the same metric in 2019.

91% of previous cruisers revealed they intend to take a holiday at sea again, which proved a more dramatic rise of 14% against 2019's results.

Between non-cruisers and past cruisers, 58% said they intend to book a cruise in the next two years.

61% of respondents who have cruises previously claimed they later returned to destinations they first visited on a cruise, with the Mediterranean and Caribbean proving the most re-visited destinations.

Andy Harmer, CLIA UK & Ireland managing director, said: “With the crucial Wave booking period now well under way, 2023 is shaping up to be a very positive year for the cruise industry, so we're thrilled to see this level of interest and demand from holidaymakers. The incredible array of cruise ships, destinations and onboard experiences means there really is something for everyone who is considering a sea getaway.”
