Croatia sees a boom in tourist numbers

According to the Croatian tourist registration system, "eVisitor", more than two million tourist arrivals were registered in Croatia in July, which is 54% of the 2019 results for the same period.

eVisitor records tourist traffic in commercial and non-commercial accommodation and nautical charter. From July 1-26, there were 14.7 million tourist overnight stays, which is approximately 59% of last year's results for the same period. Out of the total number of arrivals, foreign tourists accounted for 1.8 million arrivals and 12.5 million overnight stays, while the turnover of domestic tourists is at 90% of last year's arrivals and 78% last year's overnight stays for the same period.

Kristjan Stanicic, managing director, Croatian National Tourist Board, said: "Croatia is a safe destination, which is fully prepared for the arrival of tourists and the tourist season. Guests from the UK are highly important to us, and we have seen the revival and return of numerous flight routes from the UK to various Croatian cities such as Zagreb, Split, Rijeka, Pula and Dubrovnik. I believe that health and safety, along with good flight routes and connections, will motivate many tourists from the UK to choose Croatia for the holiday they have been waiting for and the vacation they deserve."

As a reminder, UK visitors are welcome freely in Croatia, but are required to fill in an online form to announce their visit and help maintain seamless border crossing: https://entercroatia.mup.hr/.

Masks are required on public transport and in shops and other commercial premises, and recommended physical distance is 1.5 million.

British Airways has announced more weekly routes from Heathrow to several Croatian airports, and will be operating nine weekly flights to Split, seven to Zagreb, seven to Dubrovnik and two weekly flights to Pula in August. Similarly, EasyJet is operating flights to Split, Dubrovnik, Pula and Zadar; WizzAir is operating flights from Luton- Split; Croatia Airlines is operating flights from Heathrow to Zagreb, and Gatwick- Split; Ryanair is operating flights from Stansted to Pula and Rijeka.
