Compagnie Du Ponant has unveiled its new Arctic itineraries for next year on its two luxury yachts, Le Boreal and LAustral.

New additions to the programme for 2014 include the North-West Passage crossing to Alaska and the White Sea, the gateway to Russia?s Far North, as well as the East Fjords of Iceland.

The White Sea itinerary is scheduled for early June and the cruise sails among the North Cape islands and along the shores of the Kola Peninsula. Passengers will take in the White Sea coast in the Russian Arctic, including the Solovetsky Islands, a desolate archipelago and home to a Russian Orthodox monastery, and the city of Arkhangelsk. Prices lead in at ?3,517 per person for 12 days including flights.

A Spitsbergen and Iceland itinerary is also new and links Kirkenes to Longyearbyen. Days at sea are interspersed with Zodiac outings and spot polar bears, reindeer and seals at dawn. The eight-day itinerary departs on June 15 and costs from ?3,023 including flights.

Other highlights of the programme include a 15-day Greenland & The Baffin Sea, departing on September 4, from ?3,888; a 22-day North-West Passage travelling from Kangerlussuaq - Nome on August 26 and leading in at ?7,139; and a 16-day Kamtchatka & The Kuriles itinerary, departing on September 16, leading in at ?6,934.
