CLIA?s ?Cycle to the Ball? event helps send 200 families on a break

CLIA?s ?Cycle to the Ball? fundraising event helps send 200 struggling families on a break.

Fundraising efforts through CLIA?s ?Cycle to the Ball? event, which saw thirteen travel professionals take part this week, means that over 200 struggling families will be able to go on well-deserved break from home.

Riders chose between a 64-mile or 82-mile ride to raise money for the Family Holiday Association (FHA), a non-profit organisation that provides breaks for UK families with issues such as disability, severe and sudden illness, bereavement, mental health issues and domestic violence.

The cyclists started their journey in Hampshire and rode west towards the De Vere Cotswolds Water Park Hotel in Gloucestershire for the CLIA Cruise Forum and Winter Ball.

Andy Harmer, CLIA UK & Ireland director, said: ?Working in the travel industry, we know the importance of holidays and the joy they bring. However, not every family has the opportunity take a well-deserved break.

?The CLIA ?Cycle to the Ball? event helps Family Holiday Association send even more deserving families on a break away from home. It?s now the third year running that CLIA has hosted this event and we are delighted to see such incredible support with each passing year."

Angie Watson, Family Holiday Association?s head of fundraising and communications, said: ?Family Holiday Association was founded on the belief that breaks away from home are a lifeline, not a luxury. Just one day away can make a world of difference to these families. It can give them a new sense of hope and normality, plus the opportunity to create precious memories to draw on when times are tough. For children especially, a simple trip to the seaside offers the chance to paddle in the sea, build a sandcastle or fly a kite for the first time.

?We couldn?t be happier with the support we have received from CLIA UK & Ireland?s members and supporters and we are thrilled that we will be able to provide even more families with a well-deserved break. Thank you.?
