Catalonia has opened borders for all European Union countries, across air and road routes.
Airports at Barcelona, Girona Costa Brava and Reus are operating normally, with the compulsory use of masks and temperature checks, and health declaration for international travellers.
Despite the recent outbreaks of COVID-19 in select pockets of the country, such as, Barcelona, Figueres and the area of Segri?, major tourist destinations, outside of these areas, such as Costa Brava, Costa Daurada, inland Catalonia and the Catalan Pyrenees, are not affected and open for tourists.
In Catalonia, hotels, apartments, campsites are entitled to open and are operating with health and safety measures to control the spread of the virus. All activities are organised with prior reservation and carried out with a minimum distance of 1.5 metres by the attendees. Restaurants and bars are allowed to open with maximum precautions and a distance of 1.5 metres between the tables.
While beaches have allowed outdoor showers and footbaths, the use of public swimming pools has been permitted with prior appointment. Municipalities have set down additional measures for using beaches and public swimming pools, based on specific areas for families and the duration of stay. Cultural centres such as museums, exhibition halls, monuments and other cultural facilities will operate with limited capacity and social distancing.
The main tourist attractions in Catalonia, such as PortAventura World (Costa Daurada), Montserrat (Inland Catalonia), La Roca Village (Roca del Vall?s), Dal? Museum (Figueres), Salvador Dal? House Museum (Portlligat - Cadaqu?s), Monastery of Santes Creus (Costa Daurada), Carthusian Monastery of Escaladei (Costa Daurada), Tarragona Roman Amphitheatre (Costa Daurada), Vall de N?ria Resort and Sanctuary (Costa Brava Pyrenees) are open and operating normally with established safety protocols.
The use of a mask is mandatory for people over six years of age, outdoors and in public spaces, and on public transport.
