British Airways unveils £7 billion transformation plan at inaugural 'In the Skies' event

CEO and chairman Sean Doyle confirmed the ambitious modernisation plans in the capital today, with a new website, mobile app, free onboard messaging, new short-haul seats and a new First suite coming soon in the first phase.

A new BA website is already in beta testing, offering guests a more personalised experience and new services.

Onboard, Club Members will be able to send messages free of charge using the airline's Wi-Fi regardless of cabin from April 3rd, 2024. The full rollout is expected to take two weeks from initial launch.

Along with the tech enhancements, two of the airline's most popular Asia services are set to be instated: Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur services will return in October and November, respectively. Bangkok will be served by three weekly services from London Gatwick, followed the month after by daily flights to the Malaysian capital will take flight from London Heathrow.

Abu Dhabi (April 20th), Agadir (March 31st) and Turkey (May 18th) services will also recommence shortly.

The airline's ambitious plans were confirmed at its inaugural 'In the Skies' showcase event in London on March 5th, 2024.
