'Barbados Cares' campaign offers discounts to rebooked Thomas Cook visitors

The Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. and members of the Barbados Hotel & Tourism Association (BHTA) have partnered to launch ?Barbados Cares?, a campaign to provide visitors who were due to travel to Barbados with Thomas Cook, and have rebooked through other channels, with an in-resort credit of ?100 and 20% discounts off a range of activities and attractions.

Kerrie Symmonds, Barbados? minister of tourism and international transport, said: "I was in the UK when Thomas Cook collapsed and, the impact was widespread and heart breaking for all involved.  It sent shock waves through the entire tourism family in Barbados and across the UK.  The ?Barbados Cares? offer is but a small token of our appreciation and gratitude to those travellers who are rebooking their Barbados holiday and, we hope that it will help them to have the holiday they were so looking forward to?.

The campaign, which has received the support of approximately 15 local hotels, will offer consumers who have booked a package holiday for seven-nights or more, ?100 in resort spend throughout their stay and, 20% discount off several activities, attractions, bars and restaurants, cruises, car rental and tour companies.

Cheryl Carter, BTMI Director UK, said: "Barbados has a strong relationship with the U.K. and has long been a top choice for British holidaymakers. Additional seats to Barbados from Manchester and London, have been secured with Virgin Atlantic and, we believe that the ?Barbados Cares? offer will definitely be welcomed by those Thomas Cook customers, who are eagerly anticipating their holiday in Barbados this winter."

The booking window for the campaign runs from October 18 to November 30 for travel up to April 14, 2020.
