Amadeus heralds sustainability with new Amara vessel for 2025

Amadeus River Cruises has announced details of its latest and most sustainable ship, Amadeus Amara, which will join the fleet in July next year

Thanks to an innovative lightweight construction and a shallow draft in this category of ships, the vessel will remain reliably operational even in seasonally fluctuating water levels. Its reduced water resistance will also help minimise fuel consumption. The sustainable design is further enhanced by an efficient hull shape, a fuel-saving autopilot and solar panels on the sun deck, all of which contribute to environmentally friendly river cruising.

In addition to boasting impressive technical innovations and high environmental standards, Amadeus Amara will also offer even more space to its 164 guests on the river.

Amadeus Amara is not only a technical masterpiece but also a true gem for our guests,” said founder and managing director of Amadeus River Cruises, Martina Lüftner. “The elegant interior design and indoor pool at the stern will be among the new comfort highlights. Twelve spacious suites feature walk-out balconies and cosy reading nooks, while the 70 standard cabins mostly offer drop-down panoramic windows and luxurious bathrooms.”

The maiden voyage of the Amadeus Amara is scheduled for early July 2025 on the Danube. To celebrate the forthcoming launch, Amadeus River Cruises has packaged up some of the earliest departures with flights, along with a Danube Christmas Markets’ cruise. These include a seven-night 'Danube Rhapsody' cruise between Passau and Linz from £2,399 per person; and a six-night 'Magic of Advent on the Danube' cruise from Nuremberg to Vienna from £1,499 per person. Both itineraries include return flights, and overseas transfers.
