Algarve Tourism?s new activities during COVID-19

Algarve Tourism has compiled activities to inspire people during the period of confinement and to help plan the long-awaited holiday when it is safe to travel again.

The Algarve Tourism Board, in coordination with Portugal Tourism Board (Turismo de Portugal), is working on tourism recovery, developing new protocols to guarantee the safety of workers and clients.

All tourism companies and travel agencies registered by the National Tourism Authority of Portugal (ANT) can request their company stamp "Clean & Safe". It is to distinguish the guarantee of safety and confidence from those tourist activities that meet all the cleaning and hygiene requirements promulgated by the Portuguese authorities for the prevention of COVID-19 and other infections.

The Algarve Tourism has various videos allowing virtual visitors the opportunity to experience a variety of attractions and contrasting landscapes that the region has to offer.

Meanwhile, if one is looking to run away from their desktop disasters, they can release tension with Quinta do Lago's virtual yoga classes that are streaming live. The Campus is a state-of -the-art sports facility with beginners? clinics, private professional coaching and sunshine all year round.

One can taste the saltiness of the Mediterranean Sea with a traditional Fish and Seafood Cataplana created by Chef Bruno Augusto from Tivoli Carvoeiro Hotel. The hotel offers a diversity of exquisite dining experiences available at its five restaurants and bar.

For holidaymakers looking for an authentic, sustainable yet luxurious experience of the Algarve, Casa Modesta, overlooking the tranquil Ria Formosa lagoon is perfect.

Cuisine across VILA VITA Parc's 10 restaurants is seasonal, organic and locally sourced. A large number of the hotel's vegetables and meat are grown and sourced locally from their own farm estate. The resort's organic Bio Garden gives guests the opportunity to learn about the local and seasonal produce that are often forgotten. Visitors have the chance to pick their own produce to enjoy the resort?s full farm-to-fork experience.

Top chefs Rui Silvestre (Michelin starred Vistas restaurant) and No?lia Jer?nimo (a famous chef in the Algarve) are preparing 200 daily meals for people in need during the crisis. With the help of volunteers, the meals are prepared every day in the kitchen of the Tavira Red Cross Support Centre.

Ingredients are donated by one of Portugal?s largest food suppliers, although more companies are encouraged to donate good quality products to keep the initiative going for as long as necessary.
