p> AirAsia X has announced that from October 24 it will commence flights from Gatwick to Kuala Lumpur.

The new base for the airline is set to further increase passenger traffic from London to South East Asia with six flights weekly from Gatwick by mid December. The carrier's decision to switch from Stansted to Gatwick was made to maximise commercial opportunities and drive increased traffic flow between the two destinations.

To mark the occasion, the airline is offering a one-way all-in fare from ?338 for Economy seats and 930 for Premium Fly Flat bed seats through online bookings made until July 24 for the travel period beginning February 6 to June 6, 2012.

The carrier's CEO, Azran Osman-Rani said: ?Our aim has always been to open up travel for all. The popularity of the London-KL route is further testament to the pent-up demand for long-haul travel, provided the fares are low and the quality is high." ?With our new home base in Gatwick, guests will be able to further benefit from the airport?s regional access and market connectivity potential with faster and cheaper rail connectivity to the city."

The route will be serviced by an Airbus A340-300, which has 327 seats including 18 Premium Fly Flat bed seats.
