Department of Culture and Tourism ? Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) has launched the Go Safe Certification programme to enforce global standards of safety and cleanliness at all hotels, attractions and venues across the emirate.
The tourism authorities have devised a new hygiene strategy so the emirate is ready for the return of international tourists in the post-lockdown phase.
All hotels within the emirate have undergone rigorous sanitation procedures since March, and they were able to reopen after receiving clearance certification from the Department of Culture and Tourism, Abu Dhabi. The capital has been gradually easing its stay-at-home measures after it has successfully helped in curbing the spread of COVID-19.
The first step of the programme is a guided self-assessment, for which DCT Abu Dhabi will provide the hotels and other entertainment hubs with checklists, so that they can take responsibility for the standards of their own cleanliness, and carry out similar operations independently in future. The self-assessments will be verified thorough on-site inspections conducted by dedicated teams to ensure that the destinations comply with the highest standard of cleanliness. The destinations which meet the requirements will then be awarded the certificate.
W Abu Dhabi - Yas Island is the first hotel to receive the new certification, which will soon cover six more hotels, four attractions, two theme parks, two malls and a public beach.
?Abu Dhabi is setting a new standard for best practices in tourism, following the high praise that the UAE has received for the proactive approach through which the government has addressed the current situation,? said HE Ali Hassan Al Shaiba, executive director of Tourism and Marketing at DCT Abu Dhabi. ?As we look forward to reviving tourism in the capital, we aim to meet all existing international benchmarks through a strategy that promotes consumer safety at every step of the way- from the moment they arrive at our airports to their departure. The launch of Go Safe goes hand-in-hand with the efforts of the Abu Dhabi government to combat the spread of diseases, such as widespread testing, city-wide sanitation, social distancing, and enhancing healthcare services.?
