a&o opens first property in Budapest

a&o Hostels is expanding its portfolio into the Hungarian capital, Budapest with a premium hostel offering single and family rooms, as well as the traditional shared accommodation.

Centrally located in the popular Elizabethtown district in the heart of the Jewish quarter, the 412-bed property has now opened. The neighbourhood is home to a wide range of bars, caf?s and restaurants. The renowned area known for its narrow alleyways, street art and colourful murals is only a ten-minute walk from Budapest?s main train station, the Danube and the Great Synagogue.

While maintaining the building's authenticity, theproperty has been expanded with an additional floor. The 1910 playing card factory?s history is presented with the help of urban designers and an artist collective. One of the hostel?s most unique features includes the inner courtyard, which is characteristic of Budapest's architecture, and serves as an expanded lobby with a glass lift that connects all four floors.

Oliver Winter, founder and CEO at a&o Hostels commented, ?a&o Hostel Budapest City is a wonderful, compact hostel in a vibrant metropolis. Budapest has so much to offer, both culturally and historically, making it the perfect city for a&o Hostels.?

a&o has secured further locations in Florence and Heidelberg and is soon to be opening a property in Copenhagen.

Henri Wilmes, chief investment officer said, "Coronavirus has slowed our growth rate, however a&o?s plans to expand haven?t particularly changed. We?re currently looking at sensible acquisitions rather than creating new beds and will continue to do so in the future.?

To celebrate its first opening in Hungary, a&o is offering discounted prices until December 31, 2020.
