Etihad Airways and Air Arabia Abu Dhabi to share global network routes

Etihad Airways has announced a new codeshare agreement with Middle Eastern budget carrier Air Arabia to create Air Arabia Abu Dhabi.

The agreement allows guests to book Etihad flights in conjunction with Air Arabia Abu Dhabi services, as both the airlines will share their global network routes. Etihad has added its ?EY? code on all the Air Arabia Abu Dhabi?s flights which travel from Abu Dhabi to the Egyptian cities of Alexandria, starting on July 14, and Sohag starting on July 15.

Etihad Airways plans to add more codeshare destinations to the partnership, as more Air Arabia Abu Dhabi destinations are announced in the coming weeks.

Air Arabia Abu Dhabi has been formed following an agreement between Etihad Airways and Air Arabia to establish an independent joint venture company that will operate as a low-cost passenger airline, with Abu Dhabi International Airport as its hub.

The airline will start its operations with two Airbus A320 aircrafts based at Abu Dhabi International Airport.

The first routes for Air Arabia Abu Dhabi are between Abu Dhabi and Alexandria thee times a week, and Abu Dhabi and Sohag every Wednesday.
