Co-op Travel members skydive to raise funds for Just a Drop charity

Members of Co-op Travel Consortium and some of the companys key suppliers have taken part in a charity skydive and raised more than ?10,000 for Just a Drop.

The 15 skydive participants were from the management team of the consortium, and consortium members Travel Circle, PR World Travel and Perfect Getaways, as well as suppliers at Constantinou Bros Hotels and Vertical Travel Group.

There were four jump dates, ranging from June 27 ? August 12. After a training session, they jumped from a Cessna Grand Caravan aircraft at 13,000ft. The jump took place from Skydive Langer, Nottinghamshire.

Alison Holmes, head of the consortium, said: "The whole team are in awe of those who took part in this challenge. It's our job to send people off in a plane, but we usually want them to land safely back in their seats, not land on their feet!

"But raising money for Just a Drop is a huge focus for us this year and we are so proud of all brave 15. Just a Drop is a fantastic charity focused on bringing means for sustainable water, sanitation and hygiene projects to communities and we will do all we can to support their fantastic work."

The company aims to raise at least ?15,000 for Just a Drop. The total amount raised so far is ?10,333.17, which includes sponsorship of the skydivers as well as donations made at the company conference in Cyprus last year.

The idea for the charity skydive came from Mark Delaney, Director of Travel Circle, at Co-op's annual conference.
