Voyages aboard the new ship Viking Sobek for its debut season are now available for booking following an early opening after a huge uptick in demand for Egyptian cruises.
Set to begin her inaugural season in 2025, Viking Sobek will join Viking Cruises' growing fleet as the sixth ship to sail the popular 12-day ‘Pharaohs & Pyramids’ itinerary. Due to the unprecedented demand for Egyptian cruises, with Viking’s 2024 offerings almost sold out and 2025 selling fast, the cruise line has opened bookings early for Viking Sobek’s debut season and across all 2026 departure dates.
Torstein Hagen, chairman of Viking, said: “We are very pleased with the continued interest in Egypt and are proud to be the only western company to build, own and operate ships on the Nile. With the addition of the Viking Sobek, we will offer the largest fleet and the most elegant ships on the Nile. We look forward to introducing even more curious travellers to the rich history, culture and antiquities of Egypt in the coming years.”
The 12-day ‘Pharaohs & Pyramids’ itinerary allows guests to experience the best Egypt has to offer, from land and the water, with opportunities to visit the Great Pyramids and the Mosque of Muhammad Ali before hitting the water for an eight-day roundtrip cruise on the Nile. Guests will receive Privileged Access to the Tomb of Nefertari and the Tomb of Tutankhamun, and have the opportunity to meet the locals and experience a traditional primary school. Prices for the itinerary lead it at £6,495 per person.
