TAP Portugal is threatened to be hit by strikes called by its pilots union in a dispute over pay increases.
p>TAP Portugal is threatened to be hit by strikes called by its pilots union in a dispute over pay increases. The impending industrial action has initially been scheduled from March 26-31. Should the industrial action proceed, measures shall be implemented to ensure that disruptions to passenger travel plans to and from the United Kingdom are kept to a minimum.
All TAP flights are continuing to operate as normal up until the first day of the strike. Nevertheless this strike could result in some flights being cancelled into and out of London (Heathrow and Gatwick).
In an effort to reduce inconvenience should the industrial action proceed, those customers holding confirmed and ticketed bookings for this period will be able to:
Change their booking free of charge
Obtain a total refund, but only if any of the originally booked flights is cancelled
Passengers are advised to contact their travel service provider or TAP Portugal for such arrangements.
All flights to and from Madeira (Funchal) will continue to operate normally throughout any strike period and any changes to bookings on these flights are subject to the original fare rules.
The airlines? management is in dialogue with representatives of the pilots union to avert possible work stoppages. They are optimistic that issues between the disputing parties can be resolved without resorting to strike measures.
