Saudi Arabian Airlines becomes the first airline to operate through Red Sea International Airport after signing an agreement with Red Sea Global and daa International.
Red Sea International (RSI) is on track to open this year, where domestic flights to and from Riyadh and Jeddah will operate until a further international expansion comes into play for 2024.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by Red Sea Global, Saudi Arabian Airlines (SAUDIA) and daa International will see SAUDIA commence regular services to and from RSI, as well as see the three organisations undertake research on the use of Lower Carbon Aviation Fuel and Sustainable Aviation Fuel at RSI.
John Pagano, Group CEO at Red Sea Global, said: “When the first commercial flights lands at Red Sea International, it won’t just be a point of personal pride for Red Sea Global. It will be a milestone moment for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is fitting, therefore, that the Kingdom’s flag carrier, SAUDIA, will be the first to operate from our destination.”
Nicholas Cole, CEO of daa International, commented: “Red Sea International is a new gateway for travellers to experience the wonders of Saudi Arabia. Bringing our unmatched airport management expertise, we will work with Red Sea Global and SAUDIA to ensure RSI delivers a truly unique experience for all who pass through it.”
