Cruise lines continue to expand their fleets, and interest in river cruising is strong according to recent surveys from Cruise Critic.

More than 60% of those polled report that they would love to try a river cruise, with the majority saying that they?re most enticed by the chance to try a new experience and explore the inland itineraries offered.

Other new findings reveal the emergence of new river trends including increased alfresco dining options, with a number of lines incorporating alfresco dining into new ship designs; more immersive shore excursions; new itineraries in France, with lines expanding their itinerary options into Bordeaux (both Uniworld and Viking River Cruises are offering cruises in the region, while Scenic and Avalon will also offer Bordeaux sailings in 2015); and an increase in spacious cabins.
