p>Prestige Holidays, is changing its approach to fam trips following feedback from agents. The operator is moving from the traditional fam trip approach comprising lots of hotels visits with little time for relaxation to a new style of fam which it is calling ?Prestige Experiences?.
?Prestige Experiences? will, as the name suggests, be focused on the agents experiencing a destination rather than just visiting it. Each itinerary will give them free time to see key attractions and also to learn about the traditions of the destination.
For example in La Gomera they will be able to learn the island's traditional whistling and in Tenerife they will lean to cook traditonal Spanish Tapas. Also instead of visiting 10 or 15 properties over a couple of days they will visit just four or five as part of their organised itinerary.
They will see two or three more hotels in small groups and will then give feed back and share information on these with the rest of the group. Commenting on this new approach, John Joinson, head of sales, said:
?Agents told us that traditional fams were too hotel focused and as a result they often returned from a trip without any true experience of a destination. Also when high numbers of hotels were visited they found that by day three it was hard to truly remember all the different properties. Our new ?Experience? trips will ensure they get to know a small number of hotels really well and also enjoy some time as a tourist discovering what makes the destination special. It is hoped this will make it easier for them to selll a destination and recommend a property once back in the office.?
Prestige's first ?Experience Fams? will be to Crete. Two trips are scheduled to the island one in May and one in June.
