The low-cost Icelandic airline will celebrate by offering 15% off return flights to Iceland and the US from both London Stanstead and Liverpool John Lennon Airport.
The offer is valid from January 25-27, 2023, using the code 'HUBBYDAY', and available for two travellers per booking on trips taken before March 31, 2023.
‘Husband’s Day’, or ‘Bóndadagur’, is celebrated on January 25, and is born from the old Viking month ‘Þorri’, where the husband would traditionally welcome the day by venturing outside wearing only a shirt and one leg of his trousers. Due to the extreme Icelandic weather, the traditional celebrations have been forgone, making way for modern traditions where the male spouses are gifted stereotypically ‘Viking’ items.
Travellers visiting Iceland during the celebration can expect to see great feasts (the ‘Þorrablót’) and a satirical show about the misfortunes of the locals.
