Strand Cruise, a new luxury river cruiser on Myanmar?s Ayeyarwady River, is set to commence operations in January 2016.
The cruise, which is being created by the people behind the Strand Hotel ? a Yangon landmark since 1901 - will offer 27 cabin suites and all the features passengers would expect from a Strand product - from butler service and gourmet a la carte cuisine, to signature elements celebrating the golden age of the Strand as a meeting place for explorers and raconteurs, such as traditional Strand cocktails in the lounge bar and afternoon tea on deck.
The ship will feature two Strand suites located at the front of the ship with external terrace areas. Passengers booking one of the two suites will have added extras included in their rate, including a one-hour spa treatment of their choice, a night at The Strand Hotel pre- or post- cruise and private airport transfers. All cabins will feature floor to ceiling ?Juliet? balconies with opening windows.
The crew?s knowledge and experience of Myanmar means that they have been able to negotiate access to many private jetties, reducing the time spent on land transport transferring between onshore tours. For example, one of the highlights includes an exclusive mooring overnight at Ava allowing passengers access to the temple of Maha Aungmye Bonzan after the crowds have departed.
The Strand Cruise will commence its regular schedule of three- and four-night sailings between Bagan and Mandalay in early January 2016.
A lead in low season price for the three-night journey between Mandalay and Bagan is from US$1,782 per person based on double occupancy. A special launch offer is available for sailings from January to March 2016 of 20% off the high season rate. During this time, the three-night journey between Mandalay and Bagan leads in at $2,592 (from US$3,240) per person based on double occupancy.
