p>A new unique IT system, incorporating commercial networking tools has been launched to empower agents and provide them with new hotels to sell and the opportunity to expand sales.

The system, hailed as the ?Facebook? of the travel industry is free for agents to use, and brings agents and hoteliers together, allowing agents to build relationships with individual hotels, to agree rates and special offers and to dynamically package product for their clients. Bookings can be made online or via XML links on the agent?s own system. Agents can also manage their own profile and will be able to implement control measures for staff using the new system, including creating sub users for multiple staff and branches.

For hoteliers, the new system provides them with the opportunity to do business on a global basis, establishing a shop window for all types of properties from boutique hotels to five-star resorts.

The company?s managing director, Phil Norris said: ?Swapsystems.com provides agents with the tools to respond to the current competitive climate and to personally tailor-make the holidays their clients are now looking for, increasing their margins at the same time.

?We think the system can work well for agents, bedbanks and small operators. It's an opportunity for agents to find an edge in the market and we don't think there's anything similar in the marketplace.

" Some 500 hotels and 100 independent agents have registered on the system so far, with a target of 1,000 agents and 3,000 hotels by the end of the year. Hotels are being offered the opportunity to appear free on the site until the end of April and following this will pay a monthly registration fee of ?50. A minimal charge of 1% per transaction charge will be paid by agents, bedbanks, ground agents, tour operators and airlines using the system.
