Using feedback from tour leaders, clients and staff's local knowledge, the small escorted tours offer unique experiences such as a boat trip on the Rio San Juan in Nicaragua; a visit to 12 archaeological sites in Mexico; a jungle experience in a rainforest in Peru and travel by train through the Atlantic rainforest in Brazil.

As an example, an Archaeology of Mexico tour travels into Cancun and out of Belize city, looping around the Yucat?n. Guests will take in lesser-known archaeological sites such as Ek'Balam, Balamkul, Becan and Xlapak; the colonial towns of Merida and Campeche and Lamanai Outpost in Belize.

The tour departs on April 27 and leads in at ?3,438 per person including flights from London.

Alternatively, a Buenos Aires, Uruguay and South Brazil option starts in Buenos Aires and heads across the River Plate into Uruguay before taking in Southern Brazil for an active adventure in the Aparados da Serra, culminating with the Serra Verde train from Curitiba to Morretes.

The tour departs on October 8 and costs from ?4,398 including flights.
