p>Iberostar has announced it is to open a new hotel in Brazil in 2015.
The five-star Magia Maceio, which will be located in Maceio, the capital of Alagoas state, will feature 226 guestrooms and 18 suites as well as swimming pools, spa and fitness facilities and a range of restaurants. Another US addition to the company?s portfolio, the five-star Playa Mita, is scheduled to open next month. Meanwhile, in Europe, the Son Antem golf resort and spa, located in Mallorca, launched in May.
Oscar Gonzalez, the company's marketing director for Europe, said, ?It is probably the best hotel in Mallorca for golf tournaments and MICE events.?
Gonzalez also outlined how many hotels in the operator?s global collection will undergo refurbishment next year.
He said: ?In most of the hotels we are trying to open a new VIP space, Star Prestige, where you pay an additional supplement for additional services.?
The service, which has so far been rolled out across the Jard?n del Sol Suites in Mallorca, the Bouganville Playa in Tenerife, and the Fuerteventura Palace and Fuerteventura Playa Gaviotas in Fuerteventura, includes exclusive access to private pools, VIP rooms (with features such as WiFi, newspapers and an open bar) and a personalised check-in area.
The development was put into effect due to customer feedback and the company?s desire to attract new clients as well as retain the 40-43% of customers who reportedly make repeat bookings with the operator.
Also in response to customer demand is the company?s increasing emphasis on gastronomy, with the launch of its Iberostarchef open kitchen programme.
Gonzalez said: ?We are trying to bring down the wall between the kitchen, the chef and the customers and provoke a real interaction between the chef and the customers.?
In some hotels, the operator is also organising special educational cooking events with Michelin-starred chefs, where guests can take a cooking lesson and have dinner in the company of the chef for less than ?50.
Other developments include the introduction of a Pilates centre at Royal Cristina Aparthotel and the addition of new mascots Starky and Stella the starfish at all kids? clubs across the hotels.
