Co-op Travel's summer incentive boosts homeworkers' sales by 19%

The homeworking arm of Midcounties Co-operatives travel division has seen a spike in bookings, thanks to the summer incentive from The Personal Travel Agents at Co-operative Travel.

The "Get Your Summer On" campaign ran for four weeks, from mid-June to mid-July and resulted in a 19% increase in holiday bookings for The Personal Travel Agents at Co-operative Travel, compared with the same four-week period in 2018.

The scheme incentivises the homeworkers by offering them a range of rewards across multiple levels ? the higher the level, the bigger the prize. Prizes included summer-themed treats such as picnic blankets, Love Island water bottles, swing-ball games and bottles of gin.

Sheena Whittle, head of the company, said: "We wanted to give our homeworkers a fun, summer-themed incentive to help motivate them to drive sales for the period. We supported the campaign with marketing activity, including tactical advertising, and are delighted with the results our Personal Travel Agents achieved. To deliver an increase in bookings of almost 20 per cent, year on year, is really encouraging."

The bookings made during the four-week campaign included a combination of last-minute summer getaways for 2019, long-haul holidays for winter 2019 and summer breaks for 2020. The homeworkers also received many bookings for Wimbledon 2020 breaks in the week that the 2019 Wimbledon Championships ended. The top five destinations for the 'late breaks' bookings were Majorca, Turkey, Canary Islands, Greece and Portugal.

Long weekend getaways also proved popular sellers, with Krakow, Reykjavik and New York leading the way. Florida and Mexico performed well for 2020 sunshine holidays, and 'bucket list' travel experiences dominated the sales market for long-haul.
