British Airways touches down in Aruba

Aruba has become the newest destination on the British Airways roster as the first direct flight from London Gatwick touched down in Queen Beatrix International Airport, Oranjestad, on March 26, 2023.

The brand-new direct route will operate twice-weekly – Thursdays and Sundays – and offers customers the choice between Club, World Traveller Plus, or World Traveller cabins. The flight takes 11 hours 30 minutes, including a short stop in Antigua.

Julian Welham, British Airways’ senior vice president Americas, said: “We’re very excited to be adding Aruba to our route network. As the longest serving carrier connecting the Caribbean to the UK, our links to the region are stronger than ever – and we’re proud to be the only airline to offer direct from Aruba to London. We look forward to welcoming you on board!”

Ronella Croes, CEO of Aruba Tourism Authority, commented: “Aruba’s tourism industry has always been as resilient as our people, always adapting, and always striving to be better and stronger. As a small destination in the Caribbean, we are honoured and delighted to have the opportunity to welcome British Airways to our island.

“Our visitor numbers from the UK have been growing yearly, and we are certain that this partnership with British Airways will open so many new doors for One Happy Island in the UK and in Europe.”
