The Philip Goldson International Airport in Belize will reopen on October 1, as part of the country?s five-phase re-opening strategy.
The Belize government had previously announced that the airport would reopen in August but the reopening was postponed for health and safety reasons. The opening of the international airport will kick off the third phase of re-opening in Belize, which will allow limited leisure travel and restricting international visits to approved hotels only.
Tourism authorities have established the nine-point Tourism Gold Standard Recognition Programme, which seeks to enhance the health and safety standards of the tourism industry, with the inclusion of new behaviours and procedures of cleanliness.
More details on travel protocols and health and safety precautions will be released by the Belize government in the coming weeks.
