Travel Counsellors 25th anniversary

Travel Counsellors celebrates 25th anniversary over a three-day weekend

Travel Counsellors celebrated its 25th anniversary from November 15 ? 17 (Friday to Saturday), packing its new Manchester venue with nearly 2,000 travel counsellors, supplier partners and support teams from across the globe.

Guests were treated to cameos from a number of high profile guests and speakers ? including Bear Grylls OBE, Gary Barlow, Paloma Faith and Dara ? Briain ? as well as seminars, workshops, a glittering awards ceremony, charity fundraisers and a slew of major announcements for the firm.

Chief technology officer Rob Snelson revealed plans to streamline the MyTC customer app; the launch of pre-made itineraries to its booking platform ? Phenix Itineraries; and a headline ?600k investment into the all-new TC Recommendation Engine. With the first version of the engine due to launch in the Spring, the company will be able to simplify their hotel search and rate hotels based on variables such as quality, price and environmental sustainability.

Business development manager Karina Fox-Andrews and sales expert Anthony Lannarino showcased a new seven-step sales process for the company's homeworking agents. Designed to boost sales and referrals, ?The TC Way? is: make contact regularly, gain commitment, build intimacy, create options, present quotes, overcome objections and secure bookings.

Steve Byrne, CEO at Travel Counsellors, said: ?Our conference theme this year celebrated the special moments we create for our Travel Counsellors and customers, with a clear focus on the future as we continue to strive to provide the best levels of support for our business owners, who in turn provide exceptional booking and travel experiences for their customers. As seen in recent events, the travel industry has changed significantly over the past 25 years, and our aim now is to ensure that Travel Counsellors remain at the forefront for the next 25, offering opportunities for experienced travel professionals to continue to work within an industry they love, and support the customers they care for.

?We are constantly progressing our tools and support through increased investment in our technology platform, commitments to better sustainability and bringing our talented community of travel business owners together to share their expertise. An extremely special community spanning seven countries has been created at Travel Counsellors for 25 years, and we are committed to supporting the continued growth of our leisure and corporate travel business owners for years to come.?

Focusing on sustainability, this year conference organisers took a number of steps to reduce the event?s environmental impact. All conference delegates were given reusable water bottles, with water refill stations positioned around the venue, whilst business cards were replaced by conference passes that had scannable information. A new conference app was developed, as well as digital documentation to reduce the need for printed materials such as maps, programmes and tickets.
