Air Canada announces largest Latin America expansion for winter

The new winter schedule reflects the airline’s largest expansion into Latin America to date, with 16% more seat compared to last winter

The programme includes services to new destinations including Rio de Janeiro, Cartagena, Guatemala City and Guadalajara.

The additional destinations come as the airline has added a total of 13 new routes to its network. Other cities to receive new routes from Canadian hubs include Santiago, Pointe-a-Pitre, Fort-de-France, Nassau, Montego Bay, and Huatulco.

In total, over 55 daily flights and more than 80,000 seats weekly, Air Canada will offer the most comprehensive offering to Latin America compared to other Canadian carriers, offering British travellers greater access to the region with one-stop connections.

Mark Galardo, executive vice president & chief commercial officer, and president of cargo, said, “Air Canada is delivering on its New Frontiers strategy with the expansion of its Latin America presence this winter. We are also very pleased to add new winter routes from Halifax, Quebec City, Ottawa and Vancouver, to the Bahamas, Jamaica, Martinique, Guadeloupe, and Mexico, and increase capacity to popular winter sun destinations.”

In other news for the airline, this weekend saw the relaunch of the popular seasonal route between Dublin and Vancouver. The relaunch marks the beginning of Air Canada’s busiest-ever transatlantic schedule, boasting nearly 50 routes between Europe and Canada.
