54% of first-time cruisers want to spend longer at sea

cruise.co.uk's annual survey has revealed that over half of new-to-cruise holidaymakers are looking to spend more of their holidays on a cruise

8,000 cruise.co.uk and seascanner.co.uk customers were surveyed for the research.

Almost one in five (19%) say they are motivated to cruise more to remove the hassle of flying. 15% say the convenience of ticking off multiple destinations enticed them to a life at sea.

23% cited the free time afforded to them by retirement as the principal driver.

Tony Andrews, the cruise site's managing director, said the survey's results "reinforce what we’ve been seeing in the market," and that "the cruise industry is well-positioned for continued growth," thanks to the growing appeal of the travel style.

cruise.co.uk research last year uncovered the most cruise-inclined regions in the UK, suggested that short sailings between two and six nights are proving increasingly popular, and revealed that guests continue to be indifferent to the integration of AI in their holiday booking and customer service stages.
