Visit CaliforniaVisit California is preparing to launch its 'California Star' platform in the UK.

Designed to offer a more fluid and engaging training experience for agents and to better equip them to promote California to their clients, the new app is a significant upgrade to the Californian expert programme which was ushered in 2010.

Showing off a Beta version of the new selling and educational tool on stand was Alex Vigil (pictured), European trade manager for Visit California, who informed Travel Bulletin that the final version of the platform is scheduled to be released to the UK market before March 2017.

Practical and mobile first, upon download the programme is able to fully function as an offline capable app, providing an extra level of flexibility to agents when not near a Wi-Fi or data source. In addition, the content is evergreen. Vigil commented: ?The previous platform would require large scale overhauls to change content, but this is at the tip of our fingers; my UK team can go in and edit content directly and if there is something in the news we need to let agents know about we can use push messaging to let all of our travel agents know right away.?

Worldwide, the previous California experts programme registered 24,000 travel agents, with 10,000 ?California Experts?. Everyone who has the programme will automatically be invited to join the new platform.

Featuring lots of visual content and videos, the new app has a 'Favourites' section that agents can tailor to quickly access content that they can sell and show off to to their clients, as well as the potential for additional content and training modules into next year.

Wrapping up his demo Vigil said: ?We've just finished up our ninth annual California superfam in partnership with British Airways and we are currently looking at the tenth annual for September 2017. With it being our tenth annual we're hoping to do something very special around this. In the past agents have had to become a California expert through our old training programme for a chance to attain a place on the superfam, so we're looking at how are we going to incorporate this California Star platform into that.?

Agents should keep an eye out on approach to the platform?s launch for further details on how to gain a spot on next year?s special superfam.
