Birmingham Airport handles 13m passengers a year. In 2026, the journey between Birmingham Airport and central London will take 38 minutes as it becomes the UK’s first and only high-speed connected airport.

Birmingham Airport has started a multi-million-pound programme of development works to improve the passenger journey through the airport terminal, works completed so far, redevelopment of the security processing area to provide more boarding card gates, a dedicated security preparation area and a refreshed waiting area.

With the recent opening of The Factory restaurant and the arrival of Kurt Geiger to update its airside shopping and catering experience, Bottega prosecco bar opened in March. A covered walkway to the terminal is under construction for those who choose to walk to the terminal from the free drop off car park, and a new 178-guestroom Hilton Garden Inn hotel will open in the summer.
 
Additional staff are being recruited in key customer facing areas, including terminal operations, customer relations and security officers to ensure our customer have the best customer experience when visiting Birmingham Airport. New digital wayfinding and signage will also be introduced before the summer season.

Birmingham Airport has seen double digit growth in new airlines over the past 18 months. These have included Qatar Airways, Vueling Airlines, Wizz Air, Iberia Express, Blue Air, Czech Airlines and newest arrival Primera Air which will commence operation in May 2018.

‘The Airport Gurus’ – the airport’s dedicated travel trade team will soon be expanded to five people to meet the growing airline presence at BHX.
