WTM UPDATE: Incredible India to tap spirituality, yoga and wellness tourism

India's ministry of tourism has launched a new 'Incredible India' website that showcases the country as a holistic destination, revolving around experiences such as spirituality, heritage, adventure, culture, yoga and wellness among others.

The country witnessed 10.04 million in foreign tourist arrivals (FTAs) in 2017, a 14% increase over 2016. It aims to continue this growth rate over the next three years through an integrated marketing plan. The tourism ministry attributes the increase in foreign tourist arrivals to the EVisa facility, which is now available to the nationals of 166 countries and also valid entry through 25 designated airports and five designated seaports. The Incredible India 2.0 Campaign, launched in September 2017,  focuses on social and digital media. Meanwhile, upcoming niche tourism products are being identified and developed to attract holidaymakers of specific interests. To promote adventure tourism, the ministry has been celebrating 2018 as the 'Year of Adventure'. Special emphasis has been given to the development of tourism in the northeastern states.

On the safety and security front, the government is providing 24x7 toll-free tourist helpline in 12 international languages including major European languages that offer assistance to callers in times of distress.

The Incredible India mobile app is also launched. The app is designed with the modern traveller in mind, and it will assist in each phase of their journey to India.
