WTM news: Visit Florida wants visitors to explore beyond Orlando and Miami

This year at WTM, Florida wants to get the message out that there is more to the state than just Orlando and Miami.

Speaking to Travel Bulletin, the CEO of Visit Florida, Dana Young, said: “Of course we want people to come to places like Orlando and Miami, but there is so much more to Florida, and so much diversity. There is lots of experiences on offer, including great cuisine, diverse culture, outdoors experiences and nature, as just some of these things. To sum it up, we want to introduce people to more of Florida, so that they can have wonderful and authentic experiences.”

“One way this will be made possible is through our amazing road network system, which means that tourists are now renting cars in Florida, it’s a very driveable state. It is perfectly built for long itineraries.”

Another announcement that Visit Florida wants to get out at WTM is the fact that Florida want to grow their UK and Ireland market, having made an investment of under a million dollars to help make this happen. This initiative includes getting more UK based agents involved in trade shows and roadshow events to help sell Florida to clients. The tourist board also offers a lot of face-to-face training at these shows. Additionally, agents can log on through to Funway Holidays, which includes training programmes, competitions and incentives.
