Cap Maison Hotel St Lucia

St Lucia hotel Cap Maison launches 'Chasing Food & Rum' package

To celebrate International Rum Day on August 16, Cap Maison in St Lucia is launching a ‘Chasing Food & Rum’ package.

The holiday allows guests to delve into the food and in particular, rum, which is produced on the island since the 1700s. Rum connoisseurs can sip on a number of cocktails and tantalise their taste buds with local cooking at the hotel.

Guests will be served a tasting menu with paired wines and rum at the hotel’s Cliff at Cap restaurant with scenic views of the Caribbean Sea and the neighbouring island of Martinique. They can take a look at the walk-in cellar that boasts a selection of wine and rum, as well as an in-house sommelier and ‘rummier’ on hand to help.

Guest can also learn how to cook authentic St Lucian Creole dishes alongside Mama Madeline, mother of one of the hotel chefs. She invites guests to her home to enjoy a traditional creole menu while the produce is harvested from her own back garden.

They will get to visit St Lucia Distillers in Roseau Valley and get an insight into its production. When St. Lucia's last sugar plantation closed in the 1960's, the Island's rum industry was forced to consolidate into St. Lucia Distilleries. The distillery now produces over 25 different rums, including the famous Chairman’s Reserve, Bounty and even Cap Maison’s in-house 10-year old cask aged Solera rum. The tour ends with a ‘rum-buffet’ tasting area, where guests can try up to 17 different rums.

Located on the northern coast of Saint Lucia, the five-star resort of Cap Maison is designed in a Spanish Caribbean style, with 49 suites spread over three acres of tropical grounds. Guests enjoy access to a secluded sandy beach and a bespoke service throughout their stay.

The Chasing Food & Rum holiday is available for those staying in Garden View Rooms, Junior Suites and One Bedroom Villas Suites.

Elegant Resorts is offering seven nights at Cap Maison, St Lucia from £2,765 per person (saving of £1,745 per couple) based on two persons sharing a Garden View Room on a complimentary half board basis, a special 20% rate reduction, the Chasing Food & Rum package for two, economy class flights from London Gatwick with Virgin Atlantic, private transfers and UK lounge passes. Price is based on November 4, 2019 departure.
