Rabbies planting drive

Rabbie's staff plant 3,000 scrub species in Scottish borders

Employees of Rabbie’s this month participated in a volunteer project to help fight climate change and reverse biodiversity loss.

Trees are the ultimate multi-taskers, helping to combat the two environmental emergencies facing our planet: climate change and biodiversity loss. They absorb carbon, fight flooding, reduce pollution, nurture wildlife and make landscapes more resilient. The plants in the UK have been suffering and many populations have been in a state of decline. Some plant species in the UK have even become extinct.

Partnering with the Borders Forest Trust, nine Rabbie’s staff took a two-hour hike up to Carrifran Wildwood area, near Moffat in the Scottish borders and helped plant 3,000 rare montane scrub species in the area where they’ll thrive. These species have almost completely disappeared in Scotland.
