Ponant is taking payments in Sterling for travel agents and operators

Ponant has started taking payments in sterling for all new bookings made after July 29, which applies to all of its UK trade partners.

For any bookings for 2020 or 2021 already confirmed with a deposit in euros, the balance must be paid in euros.

Stephen Winter, international sales director of the cruise company, said: ?We are delighted to be able to charge and accept payments in sterling. It is an important strategic move for us to increase sales in this market. We believe our trade partners have been waiting for this. It is a new step in Ponant?s long-term commitment and investment in the UK market.?

The new initiative follows major announcements including the launch of two new ships in the Explorers series (now six) for 2020, the major innovation of the Blue Eye, the multi-sensory underwater lounge, the start of the construction of the hybrid electric polar exploration vessel powered by LNG, and a major partnership with National Geographic.

Ponant's sales team in the UK is led by Nabil Maillard, UK & Ireland market manager with Pierre Hernandez responsible for the UK Central and North regions and Vladislav Saveliev in charge of the South. The UK & Ireland sales and marketing team is headed by Stephen Winter.
