Peru to get 22 new four and five star hotels by 2021

Investments in Peru tourism sector will exceed US$789.1 million by 2021, with 22 new four and five-star hotel projects currently under construction.

More than 86% of these hotels (17) will be built in the country's capital, Lima, which entail a total investment of US$682.6 million, according to the Lima Chamber of Commerce's (CCL) Institute of Economics and Business Development (IEDEP). 

Hilton is planning to open six new hotels in Lima alone in the next year and a half, including two new additions to the Tapestry Collection, offering upscale hotel experiences. 

Hotel Hilton Museo de Osma is due to open in 2021 in the cultural district of Barranco. It will feature 86 rooms, a theatre, a museum and a shopping centre. The second is the Hotel Bel Arte Lima, a 117-room property set in the city's financial district of San Isidro. The property comes with an art gallery and is scheduled to open in 2021.

The other four Hilton properties due to open imminently in Lima include Hampton Inn by Hilton Lima San Isidro (148 rooms, opening 2019), Homewood Suites by Hilton Lima Miraflores (100 rooms, opening 2021), Hilton Garden Inn Lima Miraflores (250 rooms, opening 2019) and Hilton Garden Inn Lima San Isidro (194 rooms, opening 2020).

Another large-scale hotel development in Lima is the Hotel Vista Mar, a US$75 million investment, which is scheduled to open this year. 

In other areas of the country, hotel initiatives include projects by Sheraton in Cusco, Inkaterra in Piura, Hampton Inn by Hilton in Arequipa and Tarapoto, and a multi-regional project by InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG).
