New rules on travel to South Africa with children

From June 1, new rules apply to all visitors travelling to South Africa or transiting through the country with children under the age of 18.

New child immigration legislation was passed, through which the South African Department of Home Affairs aims to address the issue of child trafficking on the African continent.

Full details of the new requirements and guidelines can be found on the South African High Commission website at http://southafricahouseuk.com/documents/pepletravchil.pdf

The Minister of Tourism in South Africa, Derek Hanekom, is in ongoing discussions with the Department of Home Affairs and other related bodies to assess the potential impact these new rules may have on international tourism arrivals.
