Malaysia Airlines launches 'bonus side trip' programme

Malaysia Airlines has launched its Bonus Side Trip programme, which allows passengers to break their long-haul flight to Australia or New Zealand and explore another destination at minimal extra cost.

Passengers booking a flight to Australasia from the United Kingdom with the airline can discover Western Malaysia by adding a return flight from Kuala Lumpur to Penang, Langkawi, Terengganu or Alor Setar on the way to their final destination.

This coincides with the launch of Visit Malaysia 2020, an initiative uniting industry players behind a shared goal of welcoming 30 million tourists to Malaysia in the year 2020 to enjoy the country?s warm hospitality and cultural attractions.

Additional destinations beyond Malaysia are also available to customers through the programme, including Bangkok and Singapore.

The airline offers a great selection of movies, music and games, as well as a baggage allowance with 30kg as standard in economy and 40kg in business class.

Daniel Bainbridge, regional manager for UK & Europe for the airline, said: "Malaysia Airlines is delighted to announce the launch of our Bonus Side Trip programme, giving our passengers the fantastic opportunity to add an extra leg to their journey with a visit to a range of exciting locations across South East Asia on route to their final destination, at almost no extra cost."

The airline operates twice daily between London and Kuala Lumpur on Airbus A350.
