Jumeirah Group adds Capri…

Jumeirah Group has announced it has been appointed to operate and manage the renowned Capri Palace in Italy.
Malaysia Airlines and Tourism Malaysia have taken a collective of their key travel trade partners on a tour of Malaysia with a mega fam trip, in preparation for Visit Malaysia Year 2020.
The group, which included more than 30 representatives from some of London’s travel agencies, such as Virgin Holidays, SAGA, Trailfinders, Travelbag, Travel Pack, Premier Holidays, among many more, journeyed from London aboard the airline’s Airbus A350. The participants for this year's trip won a place following the booking incentive campaign that took place earlier in the year.
The airline's travel trade partners were split into two groups with separate week-long itineraries. Those looking to experience the rich culture and cuisine of Malaysia were taken on the Heritage trip, which included a rainforest canopy walk, a visit to a tropical fruit farm and a stay at the Four Seasons resort in Langkawi. Meanwhile, the second group embarked on an Adventure Tour, involving a sunset river cruise in Kota Kinabalu, a visit to the Sepilok orangutan rehabilitation centre and a tour of Kinabalu Park.
This year’s mega fam was supported by the local tourism boards of Penang Global Tourism and Sabah Tourism Board. Shangri-la Hotels and Resorts who have properties in Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Kota Kinabalu hosted one group, whilst the other stayed at the Four Seasons and the Datai in Langkawi. Diethelm Travel provided ground arrangements for the trip.
Daniel Bainbridge, Malaysia Airlines’ Regional Manager for the UK and Europe, said: “We were delighted to give our agents the chance to see for themselves what a fantastic and dynamic holiday destination Malaysia is and inspire their customers immediately upon their return.”
Shahrir Ali, UK and Ireland Director for Tourism Malaysia, said: “We were thrilled to support Malaysia Airlines in hosting this Mega FAM for the UK travel trade. As we approach Visit Malaysia Year 2020, we are reinforcing our commitment to educate and inspire travel agents on our rich and diverse nation."
