Kuoni steps up agent training with new-look Worldwide College

Kuoni?s refreshed Worldwide College for travel agents went live last month with a series of training events taking place across the UK and focusing on the Indian Ocean.

With events taking place in London, Birmingham and Manchester, it marks the company?s biggest investment in training for the trade in recent years and has been trialled with a view to creating a more diverse programme next year.

Brad Bennetts, head of the group?s trade sales, said: ?We wanted to look at how we could modernise the Worldwide College and bring it back to suit the current training needs in the market. This year, we made it a series of intimate live events, which very much fits with our face-to-face personal approach and the focus has been specifically on the Indian Ocean, which is one of our flagship collections. We?re seeing this as a trial with a view to expanding it and include a broader range of destinations, online support and holiday types.?

Each event saw a day and an evening session with an opportunity for agents to win a place on an educational trip to the Indian Ocean.

Bennetts added: ?When it comes to a destination like the Maldives we know customers value the advice of an expert. Much like selling cruise, the area is so diverse, each island differs and there are so many resorts to choose from and getting to and from the islands by either seaplane or boat can be complex. Many bookings are for honeymoon or special occasion travel, so it?s vital that agents are able to give insight and knowledge to match the customers? needs.

?The investment in the new-look Worldwide College has been about working hand-in-hand with our trade partners and sharing best-practice to build more business together.?
