Jet2 temporarily suspends flights to Spain

Following the latest government advice regarding travel to the Balearic and Canary Islands from the UK, Jet2.com has suspended flights and holidays to Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, Majorca, Menorca and Ibiza until August 9.

Flights to mainland Spain (Costa de Almeria, Alicante, Malaga and Murcia) have been suspended until August 16.

?Where customers have been affected by any programme changes, we will be automatically cancelling affected trade bookings with a full refund. We will also be providing information for customers who are currently in these destinations, to advise them about their options to return back to the UK, so we urge customers not to contact us,? said a spokesperson.

?Those who are due to travel to these destinations after August 9 or August 16, we will provide an additional update, once we receive more information from the government,? the spokesperson added.

Jet2.com has requested travel agents to supply them with emergency contact details, so that they can contact the mutual customers via SMS on a 24/7 basis and keep them up to date with relevant information. The information passed on to customers will be legally checked and free of direct marketing gimmicks. Agents who do not comply with the request will have to bear the full responsibility of starting their own 24/7 response team for their clients.

The spokesperson further added, ?What we require now, is clarity and consistency from the government. We understand that this is a fast-moving situation and the information we are currently receiving is contradictory, and comes with little or no notice. We want to provide customers with timely information and depending heavily on the government for precise terms.?
