Discover Egypt Aswan

Help clients to discover the 'Treasures of Egypt'

Discover Egypt is encouraging agents to tap into the excitement generated by the historian Professor Bettany Hughes' new series 'Treasures of Egypt', presented on Channel Five.

The series revealed significant achievements of the ancient Egyptians. In the programme, Bettany travels from the mouth of the Nile to the shores of Lake Nasser, visiting the Great Sphinx, the original location of the Rosetta Stone, the Valley of the Kings, and the Great Pyramid at Giza.

She has been obsessed with all things Egyptian since the age of five and visiting the British Museum. This series is passionate and personal exploration, following the recent The Nile: Egypt's Great River, which aired in July this year.

Discover Egypt offers a range of Nile cruises, city stays and tailor-made options throughout the country.

Philip Breckner, commercial director for the tour operator, said: "Series like the one that Bettany Hughes filmed and the episode on the greatest treasures in Egypt are inspiring travellers to book. Many have been inspired to follow in her footsteps and visit one of the most fascinating destinations in the world, so we are urging agents to get behind selling Egypt at this time."

The tour operator is offering a seven-night Nile cruise onboard MS Tulip from Luxor, departing on September 2, 9 and 16. Prices start from ?1,047 per person, which includes flights from Heathrow, full-board cruise and ten guided excursions with an Egyptologist to see some of the top ancient sites along the Nile.

These include the Valley of the Kings and the Temple of Hatshepsut in Luxor, the Temple of Horus at Edfu, and the Ptolemic Temple at Kom Ombo. The cruise also stops at Aswan for guests to visit the High Dam, the Old Granite Quarries, the Unfinished Obelisk and the Temple of Philae on Agilika Island.

The recently renovated five-star MS Tulip features 50 guest cabins and a chic interior, with a sun deck, a swimming pool, a sauna and fitness suite, plus a deck bar, lounge bar and main restaurant.

All holidays are commissionable to agents.
