Explore launches new photography trips led by experts

Explore has launched six new photography trips that will be led by experts.

Each of the new trips is led by an award-winning photographer: Renato Granieri, winner of 2018 Nat Geo Traveller Photographer of the Year and Robert Harvey, whose work has been recognised by the Excellence Award of the Fédération Internationale de l'Art Photographique.

Jordan Photographic Discovery: Led by Robert Harvey, this trip visits the city of Petra with special access to the site before the crowds arrive. Capture the Druze tribes in Azraq as well as witness desert scenes in Wadi Rum and camp under the stars in a Bedouin tent.

The 9-day trip during March 2-10, 2019, is priced starting from £1,940 per person. It includes return flights, internal transfers, 8-nights’ accommodation, breakfast plus some lunches and dinners, and an Explore leader.

Photographing Sri Lanka: Discover Sri Lanka’s ancient cities, rock carvings and temples with Renato Granieri. Highlights Golden Valley tea plantations, national parks and the tropical coastline. Capture the rich Buddhist history through the lens during the 12-day trip during  March 23– April 4. The Prices start from £2,590 per person.

Photographing Borneo’s Wildlife: Ideal for wildlife photographers, this trip offers the perfect opportunity to capture the wildlife of Borneo with Renato Granieri. 

Travel through the jungles of Sabah, Sepilok Orang-utan Sanctuary and cruise along the Kinabatangan river and get a chance to snap bathing pygmy elephants, proboscis monkeys and hornbills.

The 10-day safari during July 12-23, 2019, has price starting from £2,575 per person and the July 22-August 2, 2019 trip from £2,940 per person.

Serengeti Photographic Safari: Under Harvey's guidance, this trip is a great way to photograph big game up-close and to capture the landscapes of Tanzania. 

The 12-day safari during September 1-14, 2019 is priced from £5,290 per person.

Best of the Western US: This trip is also led by Robert Harvey, and provides a chance to photograph America's vast landscapes as well as an opportunity to learn the skill of astrophotography. Walk among the red rock hoodoos of Bryce Canyon, capture the sunrise over the formations in Arches National Park and discover the Grand Canyon. The trip is planned around the moon phases giving the best possible chance of seeing the Milky Way.

The 12-day trip is during November 15-28, 2019 and prices start from £3,999 per person.

Photographing Ethiopia’s Highlights: This trip gives an opportunity for photographers to capture the rock-hewn churches in Lalibela, the gelada monkeys in the Simien Mountains and at Tississat Falls, known locally as ‘the water that smokes’. Led by Granieri, the trip also visits a traditional coffee ceremony.

The 14-day trip is during November 22 – December 7, 2019, with prices from £3,299 per person.
