Delta increases summer 2019 services from Heathrow

Delta is increasing travel options to the US from Heathrow for summer 2019, operating a daily flight to Portland International Airport and two services to Detroit's Wayne County Metropolitan Airport.

Currently, the American airline runs four services weekly between London and Portland, the only nonstop link from the UK. Operated in conjunction with joint venture partner, Virgin Atlantic, the daily service to the creative capital of the Pacific Northwest will strengthen the joint venture’s West Coast footprint, complementing existing flights to Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle.

Roberto Ioriatti, vice president trans-Atlantic of the airline, said: “Portland is fast becoming one of the hippest US destinations; a vibrant, friendly city that’s compact enough to explore by bike yet has some of America’s best national parks on its doorstep. We’re upping our frequencies in response to customer demand. With Virgin Atlantic, Delta offers UK holidaymakers nonstop and one-stop access to over 200 cities across the US, and we’re delighted to offer more choice to Portland and Detroit next summer.”

The second daily Detroit flight will offer customers a chance to discover the urban chic of the motor city’s renaissance or connect to more than 90 destinations throughout the United States, including Chicago, Cincinnati, Indianapolis and Orlando.
