Copenhagen to host festivals in August 2021 to boost LGBTQ rights

From August 18-21, 2021, Copenhagen will host the first-ever joint celebration of World Pride and EuroGames, highlighting LGBTQ equality in Copenhagen, Malm? and abroad.

Denmark is ranked among the most LGBTQ-friendly countries in the world and was the first country to legalise registered partnerships in 1989.

Visitors can experience a bit of LGBTQ history when enjoying a drink at one of the oldest gay bars in the world - Centralhj?rnet from 1917 is one of the many LGBTQ-bars and nightclubs to be found around Studiestr?det in Copenhagen.

Copenhagen will turn rainbow-colour as thousands of people will be cheering for LGBTQ athletes during EuroGames, with rainbow flags flickering in the winds.

The country will also be hosting an international conference and an open-for-all democracy festival, which will focus on LGBTQ rights, highlighting the unfinished business of LGBTQ equality in Copenhagen, Malm? and abroad. People will educate themselves, raise awareness and catapult issues of importance to the community into policymakers? minds around the world.
