Aurora Expeditions listens to guests & adds ‘Iceland Circumnavigation’

Aurora Expeditions has responded to guest feedback by launching two new itineraries to its 2020/21 Arctic programme.

Flexible in its approach to expeditionary voyaging and in light of its ongoing commitment to its clientele, the company asked for their help in deciding which itineraries they would like included in the 2020/21 programme. Close to a thousand people voted, choosing ‘West Greenland Explorer’ and ‘Iceland Circumnavigation’ as the top two itineraries to undertake with the brand on board its new ship the Greg Mortimer, due to launch this October.

Victoria Primrose, head of marketing and product for the expeditionary cruise operator, said: “We asked our adventurous and well-travelled customer base which destinations they want to visit next, and we listened. Like the rest of the new 2020/21 programme, the ‘West Greenland Explorer’ and ‘Iceland Circumnavigation’ expeditions have been carefully curated to give passengers the opportunity to explore rugged and far-flung destinations. On these expeditions, passengers will have lifechanging interactions and encounter dramatic landscapes; discovering some of the world’s largest calving glaciers, beautiful ice fjords, black sand beaches, stunning waterfalls, glacial lagoons, among many other highlights.”

Over the course of 11 days, guests on the ‘Iceland Circumnavigation’ will get to chart the dramatic, undulating volcanic topography of the region. Voyagers will discover remote bays and fjords, take in the sights of Europe’s largest glacier, explore black sand beaches and glacial lagoons and spot whales in Húsavík.

During this expedition, wildlife enthusiasts will experience the abundant birdlife and reindeer population of Vatnajökull National Park; adventurures can hike to mountain peaks and go sea-kayaking (additional cost applies); or relax in the geothermal waters of the Mývatn Nature Baths.

Sailing roundtrip from Reykjavik, this circumnavigation is scheduled for June 2, 2020 and costs from £6,300 per person based on two people sharing.

The full 2020/21 program is available on www.auroraexpeditions.com.au or call 0808-159 2005 for more details.
